Pakenham Warriors 2026/27 – VJBL Representative Tryouts

Welcome to the Pakenham Warriors VJBL Try-outs Information!

Before registering your junior player for Warriors Try-outs, please take time to read and consider the following information.

TRY-OUT DATES

NEW TO REP TRY-OUT: 📅 Sunday the 13th of September

TRY-OUT SESSIONS:

• 📅 Friday the 2nd of October
• 📅 Sunday the 4th of October
• 📅 Friday the 9th of October
• 📅 Sunday the 11th of October

AGE GROUPS:

• U12’s: 2016, 2017 & 2018 Born
• U14’s: 2014 & 2015 Born
• U16’s: 2012 & 2013 Born
• U18’s: 2010 & 2011 Born

TRY-OUT INFORMATION

• No parents are permitted to watch Try-out sessions.
• Successful and unsuccessful players from new to rep try-out will be notified by email on Tuesday 15th September.
• Successful players will automatically be registered to attend the Representative Player Try-outs.
• Times and venues for all sessions to be confirmed closer to the date.
• Players may be removed (“cut”) from the process after Try-out sessions 2, 3 or 4.
• Successful and unsuccessful players after Sessions 2 & 3 will be notified by email.
• VJBL teams will be announced on social media on Wednesday 14th October

Parent & Player Commitments

• If selected onto a Pakenham Warriors Representative team, players make a commitment to that team for the entire season (October to September).
• Midweek training is held Tuesday to Thursday at a local school and runs for 1.5hrs. Exact day and time is dependent on coach and court availability and will be announced soon after team selection.
• Sunday morning trainings run for 1.5hrs and are held at Cardinia Life; with younger ages (U12/Development) training first (approximately 8:30am start), and older ages (U16/18) training last (approx. 11:30am start).
• Games are played on Friday nights with younger ages (U12/Development) playing earlier (approx. 6pm), and older ages (U16/18) playing later (up to 9:40pm).
• Travel requirements can be considerable, especially in higher-level competition. Even in lower-level VJBL, it is not uncommon to travel to Rosebud, Sorrento, Altona, Sunbury, Bundoora, or Lilydale.
• All parents will be required to facilitate scoring- both using a digital device and operating the scoreboard. Training and assistance will be provided.
• There are TWO compulsory tournaments for all Pakenham Warriors teams this season and all players are expected to attend.

The Southern Peninsula Representative Tournament, November 6-8, 2026

The Eltham Dandenong Junior Basketball Tournament, January 22-25, 2027

Fees – U12-U18 VJBL

• Pakenham Warriors charge an all-inclusive fee to players successfully chosen to participate on a Pakenham Warriors VJBL team.
• Fees for the 2026/27 VJBL Season are $1200, including GST. This fee includes:

1. Midweek training court hire
2. Sunday training court hire
3. Practice Games x 2Home games- court hire, referees, supervisors
4. Away games- ALL team sheet fees, including Grading/Crossover games,
5. Championship games and Finals.
6. Two tournaments- Southern Pen in November and EDJBT in January
7. Uniform for Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Manager
8. Player admission to End of Season Celebration and Presentation

• A sibling discount of 10% for the 2nd and subsequent players from the same family will be applied
• If offered a position on a Pakenham Warriors team, an Acceptance fee of $300 will be due on 15/10/26. Subsequent $300 instalments will be due on 15/12/26, 15/2/27 and 15/4/27, thus spreading the cost over 6 months for families.
• Accounts finalised before 31/12/26 receive an Adult Big V membership- granting free access to all Big V Home Games during the 2027 Season (limit 1 per family)

Fees – U20 VJBL

• Pakenham Warriors charge an all-inclusive fee to players successfully chosen to participate on a Pakenham Warriors U20 team.
• Fees for the 2026/27 VJBL Season are $1000, including GST, this includes:
  • Training court hire
  • One Tournament – EDJBT in January
  • All team sheet fees
• If offered a position on an U20’s team, an acceptance fee of $300 will be due on 30/11/26. Subsequent $350 instalments will be due on 30/1/26 and 30/3/26.

Fees – Development Team

• Pakenham Warriors charge an all-inclusive fee to players successfully chosen to participate on a Pakenham Warriors U10 Development team.
• Fees for the year are $450, including GST, this includes:
  • Training court hire
  • Two Tournaments

Uniform

• Pakenham Warriors uniform is to be worn to and from all games and trainings.
• If new to Pakenham Warriors, a Starter Kit contains all that you need – Playing singlet, Playing shorts, Training Singlet, Warm Up Top, Socks, Drink bottle and a Warriors bag. This can be purchased from the Merchandise stand for $280. Further details will be provided to successful players.
